About Cable Lug

Cable lug is also called cable head. The connector at the two ends of the cable line is called the terminal head, the middle connector is called the middle connector, and the terminal head and the middle connector are collectively referred to as the cable head. After the cable is laid, in order to make it a continuous line, each section of the line must be connected as a whole, and these connection points are called cable joints. The cable lug is used to lock and fix the incoming and outgoing lines, and plays the role of waterproof, dustproof and shock proof. The cable head is generally made on the spot after the cable is laid in place, and its main role is to make the line unobstructed, keep the cable sealed, and ensure the insulation level at the cable junction to make it safe and stable local operation. If the seal is not good, not only will the oil leak cause the oil-soaked paper to dry, but also the moisture will invade the interior of the cable, making the insulation performance of the paper decreased.

There are many ways to make cable heads, but most of the current use is heat shrink and cold shrink two methods. The cold-shrink cable head is easy to make compared with the heat-shrink cable head. The cold shrink cable accessories will keep synchronous breathing with the thermal expansion and contraction of the cable, so that the cable and accessories always maintain a good combination state and other advantages, but the cost is high. The main advantage of the heat shrinkable cable head is that the principal is low compared with the cold shrinkable cable head, so the cold shrinkable cable head is widely used in the field of more than 10KV.
